RAWIM Helping to Enhance the City of Jeannette with Benches at the Elliott Group Amphitheater Park

The Realtors® Association of Westmoreland Indiana and Mon Valley will use a $7,500 placemaking grant provided by the National Association of Realtors® to transform the Elliott Group Amphitheater Park into a vibrant, public destination for community use and enjoyment. During the ribbon cutting ceremony, five newly installed park benches will be dedicated to legacy businesses and hometown heroes.

The grant was created by NAR to ensure local Realtor® associations are able to partner with other neighboring organizations to plan, organize, implement, and maintain lighter, quicker, and cost-effective placemaking projects in their communities.

RAWIM will use the funds to provide park benches, trash receptacles, and flowers, which will be planted to enhance the park experience and transform the amphitheater into a destination that can be more widely utilized. Additionally, Ebara Elliott Energy and Villi Electrical Services will also be sponsoring benches in the park.

“Realtors® are committed to investing resources and volunteering their time to create a tangible impact in Jeannette, Westmoreland County, and beyond,” said Kathleen Zimmerman, president of RAWIM. “This grant creates a gathering place for the public to listen to concerts and enjoy a nice day outside. The benches are also a catalyst for adding a deeper sense of purpose and meaning, as the park benches will be dedicated to past and present city leaders.”

NAR offers Placemaking Grants to state and local Realtor® associations around the country to create new public spaces and destinations in a community, such as turning a vacant lot into a pocket park or garden.

“The amphitheater is at the center of the city’s business district. It is a place where the community can come together to share in our culture, business activity, entertainment, and pride for one another. The community of the City of Jeannette is so very thankful for the donors who have blessed us with a public gathering place where all are welcome,” said City of Jeannette Councilwoman Michelle Langdon.
