Legal Advertisement of 2017.11.30: NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE ZONING ORDINANCE CITY OF JEANNETTE, PA The Planning Commission of the City of Jeannette will hold a Public Hearing at its regular meeting on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 5:30 pm in Council Chambers, 110 South Second Street and consider recommendation of the Proposed Zoning Ordinance Amendment. The proposed ordinance may be examined Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM at Jeannette City Hall. A summary of the proposed amendment to the zoning ordinance is as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEANNETTE, WESTMORELAND COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2017- 07, KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEANNETTE; SPECIFICALLY THE TABLE OF CONTENTS BY DELETING THE EXISTING SECTION 2.14 PERMITTED LAND USES AND REPLACING SECTION 2.14 WITH NEIGHBORHOOD COMMERCIAL AND BY ADDING SECTION 2.15 PERMITTED LAND USES; AMENDING ARTICLE 2: ZONING DISTRICTS BY DELETING THE EXISTING SECTION 2.14 PERMITTED LAND USES AND REPLACING SECTION 2.14 WITH THE ZONING DISTRICT OF NEIGHBORHOOD COMMERCIAL; AMENDING ARTICLE 2:ZONING DISTRICT BY ADDING SECTION 2.15 PERMITTED LAND USES; AND ALSO AMENDING ARTICLE 11 AMENDMENTS AND APPEALS. A copy of the Proposed Ordinance may also be requested at the cost of .25 cents per page. NOTICE: To all residents, the Jeannette Police Department is actively enforcing parking and vehicle violations. We continue to receive a number of complaints regarding parking on sidewalks and parking in the wrong direction. Upon the receipt of a complaint, an officer will investigate the matter. The department has recently returned to full staffing and is utilizing the additional staff to investigate all complaints.
Unfortunately, some residents have already received tickets due to parking and traffic violations. Please remember the Vehicle Code is State Law and must be followed at all times.
Some common Vehicle Code violations are:
§ 3353(A)(1)(ii) No person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle on a sidewalk.
§ 3353(A)(2)(ii) No person shall stand or park a vehicle within 15 feet of a fire hydrant.
§ 3353(A)(2)(iv) No person shall stand or park a vehicle within 30 feet upon the approach to any flashing signal, stop sign, yield sign or traffic-control signal located at the site of a roadway.
§ 3354(a) Every vehicle standing or parked upon a two-way highway shall be positioned parallel to and with the right-hand wheels within 12 inches of the right-hand curb or, in the absence of a curb, as close as practicable to the right edge of the right-hand shoulder.

NOTICE: A contractor will be cleaning and painting the J.F. Laudadio Underpass on N. 4th Street beginning today, October 3, 2017. Both entryways will be cleaned before painting the concrete on each side of the underpass. Traffic control will be provided by the contractor. Traffic flow is not expected to be stopped during this project. City officials have been told that if traffic flow is stopped, it would only be for a brief period of time (5 to 10 min).
