NOTICE: The meeting originally planned between City Council and the Jeannette School Board for tonight, February 27, has been cancelled by the school board.
A joint meeting between the City and School was recently discussed by Superintendent Hutcheson at the December 2016 City Council meeting. The parties tentatively planned to meet this evening to discuss relevant issues impacting our community. Upon advice of our solicitor, the City informed the school that the meeting should be advertised and be open to the public. Last week, after informing the school board of the desire to advertise a joint public meeting, the City was advised that the school board no longer wished to meet. The City was informed that the school board met in executive session and the outcome was to inform the City that the meeting is cancelled. No reason was provided. City leaders hope the school board will reconsider the decision to have an open public meeting to discuss relevant issues affecting our community.

Reminder that spring clean up week will occur on the first full week of trash pick-up from April to September. The weeks are as follows: April 3, May 1, June 5, July 3, August 7, September 4. You may place one large item out for trash pickup, on your regularly scheduled day, free of charge. No electronics, tires, auto parts, hazardous materials or paint.
On Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. the Jeannette City Council will hold a public hearing on the Comprehensive Plan. The Council will then vote to adopt the final package at the 6:00 p.m. regular council meeting that same evening.
Anyone wishing to ask questions or provide commentary on the Comprehensive Plan will have an opportunity at the public hearing. We will conduct a City-wide street sweeping during the first two weeks of April. Each neighborhood will have their streets swept during their regular trash pick up day. During the week of April 3 - April 7, the street sweeper will run on the EVEN side of each road. Please move your vehicle to an off-street location or to the ODD side of the roadway. During the week of April 10 - April 14, the street sweeper will run on the ODD side of each road. Please move your vehicle to an off-street location or to the EVEN side of the road.
If your street only has parking on one side only, DO NOT move your vehicle in to an illegal parking location. You must move your vehicle to an off-street location. Please assist the City by notifying neighbors, friends and family. We strive to provide an enhanced level of service and improve the quality of life in our neighborhoods. Your cooperation in spreading the word and assistance in moving vehicles off the roadways will go a long way toward a successful street sweeping program. We hope to create a smooth process and intend on replicating this program annually during the Spring and Fall months |
