Here is a recent article from the Tribune Review regarding our 2017 Street Paving Project:
The City is aware that many roads throughout town need to be repaired and resurfaced. We will take steps over the next several years to address many of those concerns. By focusing our efforts in a single location (i.e. Paruco Park), we were able to receive bids from more contractors and, in turn, receive a better bid price for the project. We will replicate this effort in other areas of town over the next few years.
The pre-bid conference had over 10 contractors present. It was noted by several long-time city employees that this was the largest number of contractors they can recall attending a pre-bid conference. The final bids ranged from $293,000 to over $460,000.
In other paving news, Columbia Gas will be conducting gas line repairs and replacements in the Arlington area. The streets are listed in the TribLive article. After completion of the maintenance work, the roads will be resurfaced pursuant to City specifications. The estimated cost of the road repairs is nearly $300,000.
