The Ordinance also changes the one large item pickup from April through September to all year round. You can put out one large item out for pickup the first full week of the month all year round. If you have items that can't wait to be put out on the designated week, you can still purchase stickers for those items in the Treasurer's Office.
The Ordinance orders that no construction debris materials, including without limitation, cement, plaster, lumber, bricks, stone, wire, nails, metal, and other building materials commonly used in construction and structural repair work, shall be placed for collection in mandated or non mandated bags. These materials will not be allowed in temporary City leased dumpsters either. If you have materials of this kind to dispose of, you will need to contact an outside hauler and also get a dumpster permit from the Office of the City Clerk. If you have questions please feel free to contact City Hall, 724-527-4000 ext 10, 12, 14, or 15.

<![CDATA[School Safety]]>Mon, 19 Feb 2018 19:26:04 GMThttp://cityofjeannette.com/city-news/school-safetyThe City of Jeannette Police Department is deeply saddened by the recent events that have taken place in Florida and elsewhere in our country. The safety of the students, faculty and staff that attend the Jeannette City School District is our top priority. The Police Department along with the School District employ a variety of security measures in an effort to provide a safe and secure learning environment. These measures reflect our commitment and high expectations for the safety of all of the students, faculty and staff. In 2015 the City of Jeannette and the Jeannette City School District entered into an agreement to have a full time School Resource Officer stationed at the schools during the school year. This officer is a certified instructor in A.L.I.C.E. and CRASE (Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events) and has extensive training in other areas related to school violence. He is a member of the School District’s EOP (Emergency Operations Plan) committee. This Committee meets regularly to discuss ways the School District can better prepare itself to deal with a potential incident at the school. The Police Department has also assisted the School District in making improvements to the school grounds and buildings in the attempts to make the school campuses safer. The Police Department and School Administrators conducted “Active Shooter” trainings with faculty and staff and more are planned for the future. Police Officers regularly patrol school zones and bus stops on a daily basis. Going forward, Emergency Evacuation Drills will be conducted and more training will be offered. As we are all saddened by past events, we also learn from each one of those events to better prepare ourselves to protect the students, faculty and staff. The City of Jeannette Police Department and the Jeannette City School District encourages you to learn and prepare for emergencies that may occur in our community and home. If you have any questions or concerns about school safety, contact Cpl. Chris Mason (SRO) or Police Chief Shannon Binda. Remember “IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING” you never know whose life you may be saving.
